Dunedin local born and raised, Hazel is a dedicated social worker with a commitment to fostering connections and promoting holistic well-being. Hazel grew up in Portobello then shifted to Ōpoho and attended Logan Park High School as a teenager. Hazel pursued her passion at Otago University with both a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Bachelor of Social Work.
Hazel's professional journey evolved through roles in youth work, mental health and adventure therapy. Her genuine rapport with rangatahi helped her to guide them through challenges and personal growth. An advocate for mental health, Hazel actively works to help others around well-being and accessibility to support.
Her love of the environment often sees her out hiking and exploring the hills around Dunedin with her partner and son.
Hazel's experience as a social worker exemplifies her compassion, dedication to meaningful relationships, and commitment to positive change. Her emphasis on authentic connections, whanaungatanga principles, and mental health advocacy makes her a great support for individuals and whanau.
