Te Aumoana Kingi

Te Aumoana Kingi (Kāi Tahu, Kahungunu ki Wairarapa, Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō, Rangitāne, Ngāti Rārua) is a passionate advocate for Māori-led education, social justice, and whānau centered practise. She serves as the Senior Lead for Te Rōpū Manaaki, the bilingual unit at North East Valley Normal School in Ōtepoti, and works nationally as a cultural advisor to counsellors and therapists, supporting kaupapa Māori approaches to wellbeing.

Te Aumoana is currently on sabbatical pursuing postgraduate study in Education, endorsed in Māori Education, while also navigating motherhood with her new pēpī. Her dedication to whānau and community spans many years, from volunteering at Puketai as an undergraduate, to active involvement in the Kāi Tahu takiwā through initiatives such as Hui-ā-Iwi, and whānau-led kapa haka.

As a graduate of Tira Tuarua, the Huia Kaimanawa Māori Leadership Programme, she brings a rich understanding of transformational, Tiriti-led leadership in education, alongside a growing knowledge base of mātauranga and tikanga Māori.

Grounded in her lived experience as a child raised in state care, Te Aumoana brings compassion, integrity, and a strong commitment to equity. Her mahi is consistently guided by the Kāi Tahu whakataukī: Mō tātou, ā, mō kā uri ā muri ake nei – For us and our children after us.
